WHAT: The Irish and the Erie with Craobh Dugan musicians

Join Craobh Dugan at the Oneida Community Mansion House for an amazing musical story! In the historic Mansion House hall, the musicians of Craobh Dugan will bring the history to life of how Irish immigrants helped to build the Erie Canal in an entertaining one hour presentation featuring the traditional Irish music they played and songs they sang. 

The program is free for children under 12, $3 for students (ages 12 and up), $5 for OCMH members, and general entry is $10. Parking is available across the street from the Mansion House.

Craobh (prounced “crave”) Dugan is the local branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann. Located in Utica, NY,Craobh Dugan invites people of all ages to participate in ongoing events, including learning to play an Irish instrument, playing in sessions, participating in dance workshops, and more. The Oneida Community Mansion House (OCMH) was once home to the 19th century utopian Oneida Community (1848 – 1880). Today, the building houses a museum with permanent and changing exhibitions about the Community, overnight lodging, and banquet and meeting space. The Mansion House is a National Historic Landmark and history museum chartered by the New York State Department of Education.

The House is open for visitors Monday through Saturday from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm, and Sunday from noon until 5:00 pm. Guided tours are provided regularly April-November and by appointment only December-March.
