Anthropologist Anthony Wonderley, Ph.D., offers a fresh and holistic look at the origins and legacy of the Oneida Community. In his new book Oneida Utopia, Wonderley argues that the commune and company together comprise a century-long narrative of economic success, innovative thinking, and abiding concern for the welfare of others. The author’s talk will be followed by a reception and book signing.

The Oneida Community Mansion House (OCMH) was once home to the 19th century utopian Oneida Community (1848 – 1880). Today, the building houses a museum with permanent and changing exhibitions about the Community, overnight lodging, and banquet and meeting space. The Mansion House is a National Historic Landmark and history museum chartered by the New York State Department of Education.
The House is open for visitors Monday through Saturday from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm, and Sunday from noon until 5:00 pm. Guided tours are provided regularly April-November and by appointment only December-March.
