Victorian Holiday Ornament Workshop at Madison County Historical Society

on December 8 from 9 am - 12 pm.

Come join us for a Victorian Holiday Ornament Workshop for adults and children aged 9 years and up from 9am-12pm on Saturday, December 8.  Participants will create two or more original holiday ornaments using an array of provided materials including authentic reproduction Victorian “scraps” (embossed chromolithographs), tin stars, lace snowflakes, ribbons, and trims. Participants are encouraged to bring any crafting materials they wish to include in their original designs.

Artist, Educator, Pamela Vogan Lynch will lead the workshop. Mrs. Lynch is a professional artist and retired Director of Art for the Oneida City School District with 35 years of experience in art education.

The workshop will be held at the Madison County Historical Society from 9 am- 12 pm. The cost for the workshop is $20.The workshop is limited to 20 participants. For more information please contact MCHS at 315-363-4136, or history@mchs1900.org.The Madison County Historical Society is a nonprofit organization that operates both a museum and the Mary King Research Library.  The society continues to preserve, collect, promote, and exhibit the history of Madison County and its fifteen towns and one city through the development of programs that enhance Madison County’s heritage. The historical society’s headquarters are housed in an 1849 Gothic Revival Villa that is listed on the State and National Registry of Historic Places.

Utica Zoo's Holiday Hoot

Have Breakfast with Santa at Utica Zoo’s Holiday Hoot

The annual Utica Zoo Holiday Hoot has added a new event to this year’s festivities: Breakfast with Santa! Join Santa for breakfast in the Utica Zoo Auditorium on Saturday, December 8, 2018.

There will be 2 separate breakfast seatings at 9am and 11am.

Enjoy pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, fruit, juice, milk, and coffee by A Moveable Feast by O’Connor’s and of course Santa Claus! There will also be animal meet and greets, stories, crafts, and holiday photos with Santa. Tickets must be pre-purchased with a limited number of available tickets. Tickets are $24 for adults and $12 for children. All details, including ticket purchase is available at UticaZoo.org/holidayhoot.

There will also be photos with Santa for all visitors at 1pm and is included in Zoo admission. A photographer will be available, but visitors may also feel free to bring their own cameras. Visitors can enjoy story time and crafts, animal meet and greets, candy canes and cookies, and hot chocolate. Tickets are not required, and Utica Zoo members receive free admission. The Annual Utica Zoo Holiday Hoot is sponsored by The Hartford.

All visitors are encouraged to visit the Utica Zoo gift shop for holiday shopping for the animal lovers on their list, including animal adoptions and gift memberships. The Utica Zoo gift shop is open every day (except Thanksgiving and Christmas) from 10a-4p.
